why did his career fall on its arse?

I know he's still occasionally in movies, but nothing big. What happened to him? how come he's not still a huge star?

To jumpstart his movie career, he needs to do a sequel to the Karate Kid, in which he is now the grown sensei, who teaches Miyagi-do karate to an Okinawan kid who is getting harrassed at school.

I've always had thought the same thing about machio: if he was such a huge star as Karate Kid,and he was also in the outsiders...

but then this past week I saw the 3 karate kid movies again (and I havent seen them in nearly 20 years) and now that I'm an adult, it's with somewhat of a pitty that I say, that his career fall on its arse because he was an awfull actor... Ralph Karate Kid performance and Keanu Point Break performance must be the two worst performances that my "childhood years memories" made me remember as being perfect...

I think he's a great actor.

But right around the time that he made My Cousin Vinny, he became a father...so I think that having a family is one reason why he doesnt do much acting anymore, not that there's anything wrong with that...

Just so ya'll know, I'm a GIRL.

It's because he still looked youthful well into the 90's and no longer wanted to play 'young' roles. Studios didn't want to cast him as an adult because of his looks. Even in his earlier roles, such as the romantic subplot from Karate Kid. Elizabeth Shue looks more like his baby sitter than his girlfriend, dispite the fack that Ralph was a few years older than her.

Well, I guess she got alot of practice for Adventures in Babysitting (great fims by the way!) by playing Ralph's babysitter...er..girlfriend in Karate Kid. Didn't the scene when they hold each other and kiss give you the creeps? I don't know what it was, but it just didn't look right. Kind of like a high school senior dating a junior high twirp. It's funny, because Ralph was well into his 20's when he played The Karate 'Kid'.

It depends on what films he did. Since they weren't big films, he wasn't considered a big star. That's how it works out there.
