It's called working--hey, I don't even watch HIMYM, but I'm glad he's getting paid. He also appears on Portlandia.

Ron Pearlman takes crappy roles too but he ain't broke.
Acting is just a job like your job, you need money to constantly keep coming in just like everyone else.
So you work on whatever you can get, Doesn't mean you are a bad actor or broke, you just look for work,

he takes roles he is interested in. he lives very modestly and made a crapload of money on Desperate Housewives. bought his house back in the Twin Peak days and has it all paid off. he's far from broke. I'm sure he has more in the bank in liquid assets than any if us will probably make in a lifetime

I'm sure he's fine. He probably doesn't get offered a lot of good film gigs anymore since he's getting older and was never super mainstream to begin with... I like his TV appearances. It's always nice to see him pop up.

He was on The Getaway recently (travel show on Esquire network), and he spoke of his winery in Washington state (first vintage bottled in 2005, I think I heard), so I suspect he's got more than just acting gigs keeping him busy and earning him money. His wife makes a good living too, she's the creator and producer of Project Runway (which isn't as great as it used to be when on Bravo, but I still watch...). Like someone else said, he's selective about what he does, and perhaps takes certain roles for fun (the Mayor in Portlandia is awesome!).
