Pepsimaxie,
I feel the need to enlighten you on a few points concerning the matter you have raised regarding my editing Melanie Lynskey's Wikipedia page.
Point 1 - When 'Heavenly Creatures' was released, there were no magazine articles connected with the film's publicity that featured Melanie.
Point 2 - In the Wikipedia entry, it makes out that she chose to drop out the limelight between 1995 and 1997. I know that isn't true. In an interview she gave back in 1998, she said that she was rejected for every movie role she tried for, when she went to America, and the general feeling I got from the Pavement mag interview was that things weren't that much better when she returned to her home country, in terms of her acting career prospects. All in all, further education was, back then, the only way to keep herself busy. That, and some good advice from Gaylene Preston, helped to start her on the road which has led to where she is now.
Point 3 - The other correction I needed to make was regarding her role in 'The Frighteners'. Whoever wrote her bio, does not know the difference to being given a cameo role and being an extra. A cameo performance is another way of describing an actor or actress as having a special guest-type role. Now and again, they are un-credited, but isn't that common an occurance. If that were true about Mel's appearance in this film, her name would have been on the opening credits. Yet, she only was given two things to do, smile and turn round. In my experience of watching films, that is what extras usually do.
I hope this points clarify why I made the changes I did. Apart from the inconsistancies I mentioned, the Wikipedia entry was more or less correct.
Regards,
Gemini71.
