Lost Respect for what? He rocks!!

reply

*beep* dont lose respect for him for writing childrens books. you'd have to give up respect for alot of people if you did that, like Shel Silverstein, Fred Rogers, Bill Oreilly...OK Oreilly is a bad example, but you get my point.

you should lose respect for him because he's dancing and singing about soup. THATS pathetic.

You know, I don't like ganging up on people. But I have no choice but to join the rest of this board and jump down the OP's throat. Just how exactly does writing children's books cause someone to lose your respect? I think your priorities are in a funk. To write a children's book and help children get into literacy instead of video games is admirable.

Would you rather have him rape crippled women? Would that help him get your respect? I am sure there are some homeless people he can beat to a bloody pulp for you.

reply

Awwwwwe, I wanna read about a manatee. ^_^

Seriously, though, I see no reason to loose respect for him because of him writing a childrens book. I think it's great. I'm sure the book has made at least a few children excited about reading. What's wrong with that?

reply

Why? Because he has yet -another talent to add to his resume?

You make incredible sense.

Not.

reply

Nope, because to me John Lithgow is one of the great villain actors of all time, and seeing him as an author of childrens novels spoils that for me.

Why? Because he has yet -another talent to add to his resume?

If he were writing real novels, then I would agree with you, it doesn't take any talent to write a childrens book, which is why you see so many celebrities doing it.

reply

I see what you mean but you have to separate the actor from the characters. Which can be difficult.

Sometimes things are right there, you just don't know it right away
