John Lithgow heads to Skokie

The actor John Lithgow is bringing his solo show, "Stories by Heart," to the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie for a one-night stand on Nov. 1.

"Stories by Heart," which has not seen before in the Chicago area, is a personal reminiscence using the power of storytelling as its narrative glue. First produced at the Lincoln Center in New York in 2008, the piece was widely admired as a poignant tribute to Lithgow's parents and grandmother.

For the North Shore Center, it's a rare foray into touring drama, albeit on a solo scale. Tickets ($55 to $75) go on sale July 19 at 847-673-6300 or NorthShoreCenter.org.
