Great in The Crown

I'm 64 and well remember watching and remembering Winston Churchill being a stuffy old chap. It seemed that he didn't care much of the young Queen Elizabeth II. I'm only into the 6th episode. But to watch mr. Lithgow play Churchill, I think it might be the best, most accurate roll he's ever played.
Great job, mr. Lithgow

I completely agree!

I've been a huge fan of Mr. Lithgow ever since I started marathoning 3rd rock from the sun on Netflix. I was really pleasantly surprised to see him on The Crown. He is a wonder to his craft and just makes me enjoy the drama more now since my favorite actor is in it: )

John Lithgow is amazing as Winston Churchill. He really got into the character. Full of emotion and contradiction. We saw him on stage in London a couple of years ago. Brilliant actor

I came here to say the same. His performance in The Crown is incredible.

What we do in life echoes in eternity Russell Crowe as General Maximus in Gladiator (2000)

reply

Yes I agree - his performance is second to none, no doubt about it!

Agreed. The portrait scene was phenomenal.

When I spotted his name in the credits I thought "uh oh, what are they thinking", John Lithgow playing Sir Winston Churchill. Don't get me wrong I always thought he was good at what he did but I just could not picture it.

That was right up until his first scene in "The Crown".

Boy was I wrong, He just knocked it out of the park, fantastic!

I think this show was extremely well made and most played their parts well, John Lithgow however, was absolutely outstanding and deserves an award for his portrayal of Sir Winston Churchill.
