She's kickass in something like Congo and perfect in court room drama. Not many women have such a powerful presence on screen. She just looks like she knows exactly what the hell she's doing in any movie. And she'll bring the hammer down, I like that.

Laura Linney is one of the most respected actors of her generation, and she works all the time. How does this translate as "underrated"?

Underrated as in unappreciated. All you hear about is katherine heigel and all those other flavors of the week who are for some reason always in the public eye. But maybe that's just their strategy to stay relevant.

Oh, well...if you're going to consider all the scaff and raff of the IMDb among those whose opinions count, then indeed, she is bound to be "underrated" by their standards.
Obviously, I was thinking in more general terms. Three Oscar nominations with no wins could be a sign of her being "underrated," for example, tho' not in my opinion. Countering this, there is the very steady work for major directors, and also on stage. Hardly underrated, by professional standards--the only ones that should matter.
