why does Betty White get all the press

I was just wondering that myself. Betty White is great and still active. BUT......so is Ms. Leachman. She is still very very active and and has had just as long and successful a career but yet she doesn't seem to be the darling of the press the way Ms White is.

I love them both.... but in all honesty, Betty is the one who has been more mainstream over the past few decades. Growing up, I remember seeing Betty on all the game shows and then The Golden Girls.... and now Hot in Cleveland. Golden Girls is still being shown around the clock, so she's more prone to get new fans. I remember watching Cloris in the Mel Brooks stuff.... but Betty is still 'mainstream'. She just seems to always be "around". No one is to blame. That's just how it happened. I'd rather not 'pit' one against the other. They are both great.

Cloris is the Emmy champ with approx. 8-9 wins(not including noms,and still appears in feature films
The difference is just the PR, which any celebrity can hire to promote themself.

It's due to (1) Betty getting more noticable roles in recent years (Hot in Cleveland, the SNL gig) and (2) Betty having a sweet, endearing personality. Cloris is a wonderful, superb actress but she has never had a "lovable" everybody's sweetheart wpersonality and indeed Hollywood has always capitalized on that, note the sarcastic Phyllis song to her series. It has worked to her advantage as Leachman has had a great career largely playing shrews and pushy women which are often the best roles.
