shareI have to agree, one of my favourites of her and anyone come to that
shareFor me it's the greatest song she ever recorded. So powerful and emotional and the video to match, absolutely amazing work...
"I'm right where I wanna be....."
I agree, it's still probably my favorite song of hers off her three main albums and maybe still all around when even counting her B-Sides (some of which are just as good or better than the some of the songs that made it onto her albums).
Then again, it was Smoke that got me into her.
It's a very pretty song. It's one that literally gets stuck in your head: "what's up with that?" ...it just sticks.
Don't blame me for YOUR limited intellect and irrationality!
The song was also extremely emotional. Just listen to the lyrics: "Why? Bleeding Is Breathing". The song is about very dark topics: child abuse, possible drug abuse and addiction within a family, neglectful parents and of course depressed/borderline suicidal person who is also a cutter (hence the "Bleeding" part).
I don't Natalie's ever had this kind of childhood BUT it's quite a moving song: maybe it's about a friend she knew or someone close to her or maybe she's just so talented that she was able to write a song about these topics and put herself in the situation. She did write this song.
