Chosen as Mance Rayder for GoT
What do you guys think? Is he a good choice?
Nothing against his acting skills but i imagined Mance Rayder more "slim".

I imagined him younger. Had someone like Dominic West in my mind, but Ciaran is a good actor.
sharePersonally, I think he can pull it off.
A description of Mance Rayder: "a big man, long legged and lean, broad in the chest and shoulders. His once long brown hair is now gone mostly grey, laughter lines appear at the corner of his mouth. He has a sharp face and shrewd brown eyes. He is an unremarkable-looking man in his middle years, with a fondness for music.
Don't you think Ciaran? I mean not every detail but pretty close. He's definitely a big man (6 ft), has the broad shoulders, and has the laughter lines. All they would need to do is change his eye and hair color.
Just my two cents...
"His once long brown hair is now gone mostly grey, laughter lines appear at the corner of his mouth."
If that's the description from the book, then clearly they can't cast a young guy in that role. It would have to be someone at least 40, and 50s would be closer, so Ciarán Hinds is exactly the right age for the role. Only a very few guys are gray at 35 and they're not going to have laugh lines.
*beep* yeah! He'll do a great job I'm sure.
shareThought they would choose someone younger, but he his a marvelous actor, can't wait to see the portrayal.
shareDisappointed that they didn't choose James Purefoy (who played Mark Antony to Hinds's Julius Caesar in HBO's Rome) but think this is great casting.
shareApparently they offered it to Dominic West first, but he had never heard of the show, so he turned it down.
shareYep... i wonder if in the past years Dominic has been living in another planet, 'cause a person inside the entertainment industry who hasn't heard of GoT is just odd, or plain stupid. ( in fact i dont think a person who has any knowledge of tv shows or who watches tv alone would be unaware of GoT's existance)
Well good for me! I dont care for DW but I'm a big fan of CH so Dominic's loss is CH's gain (and for his fans hehe)
