Favorite Performance? (Besides Dumbledore)

For me, it's King Arthur from Camelot.

The Field. He was pretty intense in that one.

Frank Machin in This Sporting Life. A raw, powerful performance.

Gambon was a better Dumbledore

I always knew of Richard Harris, but have seen very few of his films.
The one that came to mind was The Quick and the Dead as English Bob, but I would hope that was not a high water mark in his career.

Harris played English Bob in Eastwood's Unforgiven. There was no English Bob in The Quick and the Dead.

My favorite Richard Harris roles are John Morgan in A Man Called Horse and Return of a Man Called Horse, followed by Benjamin Tyreen in Major Dundee. Rafer Janders in The Wild Geese is also up there.

I always wished we could have seen a British 'Magnificent Seven' film set in Medieval days, with Richard Harris, Oliver Reed, Richard Burton, Peter O'Toole, Robert Shaw, Michael Caine, and Sean Connery. Maybe Brian Blessed could have played the evil warlord they went up against.

YOU NAILED...A MAN CALLED HORSE...AWESOME MOVIE.

reply

I was mistaken about English Bob. Gene Hackman was the lead bad guy in both films so I go them confused.
Which indicates how little I have on Harris's career. Yet I know who he is. Someone left the cake out in the rain.
