I only read the Firm and didn't like how easy it was to read. There was no challenge in his story line, just straightforward exposition, conflict, and resolution. I'm amazed that he was so successful, but I think his success was finding just the right balance of easily digestible story-telling and Hollywood knew how to adapt his movies into a cheap retail drama using A-list stars.
What's ironic is that in today's world where people read even less, a lot of younger people I know say that John Grisham movies are top tier Hollywood drama because movies based on novels are just that. LOL
