Her Jane Eyre is the best.

Jane Eyre is one of my all time favorite books, and I have seen several movie versions of it,and the version with Charlotte is the best one I have ever seen. Her interpretation of Jane is the most accurate, and the movie itself is the most faithful to the book.I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the book as much as I do.

I do like her as Jane, but think that version is weakened by William Hurt's Mr. Rochester. He's kind of colorless in the role.

I think my favorite Mr. Rochester is actually Orson Welles.

I don't know how good the other movie versions of Jane Eyre are, but I didn't think that one was very good. Charlotte Gainsberg was good -- I guess it was the script that was lacking.

Jane Eyre is my favourite book, and I have to say that she is the 'perfect' Jane Eyre! The version itself was a bit strange - it left a lot out and the end was a bit weird. But then again, it's the only adaption of Jane Eyre I've seen so far. And William Hurt as Rochester wasn't the best choice...and I would have liked to have seen him dress up as an old gypsy woman!!

Here's this thing: liked Charlotte, couldn't stand William Hurt. It was like he was just so bored while filming it. He just didn't seem to show any interest in it at all. Someone once said that he was the most depressed Rochester there has ever been and I am inclined to agree. He is almost prostrate with grief half the time. Charlotte definitely looked the role (the whole elfish and small aspect) and really did a good job for her first English speaking role. I just can't get past William Hurt.

On a side note, I'd be interested to see how Anna Paquin would play Jane Eyre. Could be interesting. Who knows? They're filming a version with Ellen Page. There might be room for another adaption.
