You're right. She had (now I've come to realize it after you mention it) this haunting familiarity about her that I haven't been able to put my finger on. I agree, she's very reminiscent of Patti Smith. I'd like to see her play Smith in a movie, especially since Smith is my all time favorite female artist.

I was just watching the preview of "Melancholia" and it struck me that Charlotte looks so much like Patti Smith. I should have seen the resemblance sooner, since I am a huge Patti Smith fan.
Patti is just about my favorite female artist too.
