Did Mystery Men hurt her career?

Back in the late 90's she was talked about as being apart of the "future of Hollywood" and was thought to have had a very bright future in the industry. Mystery Men had a lot of hype and her involvement with it wasn't made too light by the press either. The movie, however, was a huge flop at the box office and got fairly mixed reviews from critics and didn't really help anybody's careers and worsened a few of them, this is especially true with Kel Mitchell who not only was one of the leads but also made a music video for the film, and its director Kinka Usher who has yet to have received another opportunity to make a feature film since.

Boys And Girls and The Medallion obviously didn't do her any favors, either.

I wouldn't think so because she had such a small part in the movie I wouldn't imagine it would affect her career much. If anything, the two movies you mentioned below probably had a bigger effect than Mystery Men did.

I call movies that are considered 'bad' hated movies.

Mystery Men was flop at the box office, but has become sort of a cult fav throughout the years.

Mystery Men is amazing. The public are morons.

Lack of ambition is what has hurt her career.

The below blogger had this to say about her: "I've met the lass, and she's pretty much a bitch."

What hurt her career in the late '90s was allegedly walking off the set of Deep Rising after 3 days of filming. Supposedly, she had creative differences with the director, who was also the writer. There's an alternate explanation online that's mentioned on more than one site: "She was fired from the action thriller "Deep Rising" after she refused to make adjustments in her character development to suit director Stephen Sommers' vision."

She was replaced by Famke Janssen, who went on to have a more high-profile career.
