She had to be the worst case of ED in Hollywood...

Looking back at her in the later seasons of Ally Mcbeal is just unbelievable. I have never seen a single actress or entertainer in the industry with such severe anorexia. I estimate her weight at less than 60 pounds at her worst at that time period. Even Nicole Richie, Tracey Gold or any of the other high profile cases of Anorexia nervosa were NEVER as bad as Flockhart. I have to say I am absolutely shocked she was able to survive. The only other woman who looked as emaciated as her was a french model, Isabelle Caro, but she did not survive.

I wonder what it was that allowed her to turn her life around? back in the early '00's I think a lot of people expected her to die.

She gave men Erectile Dysfunction during that phase. With meat on her bones she was quite beautiful. Am I skinny shaming?

Oh wow, you sure did capture it there. She looks like a Cambodian refuge in that photo, though refuges don't often wear $3000 gowns.

While Calista was ultra thin, her face never looked gaunt or sunken in. Natalie Dyer has those features. It's distracting to me when I watch anything she's in.

I don't believe that's an retouched photo. It's so easy to mess with images and the Daily Mail is a frequent partaker in that particular practice.

Yes I've seen ED to mean both Erectile Dysfunction and Emergency Department (Hospitals). This happens to be the first time I've seen it mean Eating Disorder.

Not sure why being a heterosexual male would keep you away from Ally McBeal.

I am the same, and I thought she was a total cutie. Add into the mix: Lucy Liu, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Portia de Rossi and several other hotties along the way, and it was the ideal show for us "heterosexual males".

I would take it any day over top shows like "Big Bang theory" or "Modern Family", neither of which appealed to my heterosexual side.

Come on dude Ally McBeal's target audience was young women. That's why it featured lots of young actresses and it's main character was a woman.

Going by your logic Desperate Housewives was also made for men.

I watched it. It was a great show. One of my favorites. I'm a heterosexual man. And just because it had women in it I don't think necessarily makes it "targeted" to young women. Is every show that has young men in it "targeted" towards them?

Also, she was very skinny, but I'm not sure she ever had an eating disorder. Unfortunately, I think she (like a lot of women in Hollywood) felt pressured to lose weight, either directly or indirectly. Maybe that's why she "survived." However, I do agree she looked better when she weighed more, like she did in the early episodes.

I think Toni Collette has given her a run for her money for a very long time. At least Flockhart still had some meat on her bones. Collette has looked cadaverous for a long time.

Ariana grande (recently) , Mary Kate Olsen in 2007, Celine Dion during the Vegas era shows were all worse than Flockhart. Don't get me wrong, her Anorexia was obvious but there have been worse cases of Anorexia in Hollywood.
