people barely recognize her on the streets these days.

that's sad.

Not really. I have seen a recent interview with Candice Bergen who said the same thing. People do not recognize her anymore nowadays because they still remember her "younger" version. Happens to so many actresses and actors as they age.

And what serendipity - to break your ankle and lose a role, then get a role after going to the doc for said ankle. That would be sublime. I agree – that would be wonderful!

But I have to ask – when you say she lost a role because of a broken ankle, are you referring to the Maria Callas role? Does that turn out to be the reason why Masterclass was never finished?

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!

That's WONDERFUL. Thank you!!

Can you imagine how wonderful it would be if she would work with Ryan Murphy ?

She's definitely back in the business and that's great. I can't wait to find out about the mystery project her London agent was talking about.

I just read this on DataLounge:

Apparently she was offered the Jane Fonda role in Youth. Fonda has a 7-minute glorified cameo but it's a juicy, campy, life vs. art monologue scene, playing an over-the-hill Hollywood diva bitching about her age and career. Fonda looks like a grotesque drag queen and complained about the hard, unflattering lighting used in the film, but she obviously thought she had a shot at an Oscar nom because she was campaigning like crazy last fall (she got as far as a Golden Globe nom). She mentioned in a few interviews that she only got the role after it was rejected by another famous older actress who wasn't prepared to "de-glam", and the director or producer later confirmed that it was Dunaway who turned it down.

I found interviews with Fonda where she confirmed she got the role after another actress turned it down, but cannot find anything to support that it was Faye. However, it is not unbelievable. Faye is a fan of Paolo Sorrentino's work and if it's true, I think it's a shame she didn't do the film. If she really turned it down, I think it's probably for the same reason that she didn't do the lead role in "Asphalte"...
