If Judi Dench hadn't won for Shakespeare in Love?
Would she have won for the Oscar Chocolat?
These 2 films were the only times she was nominated for a supporting role.

shareNo I don't think so, though she was great in that picture... For me Dame Judi deserves two oscars:
Mrs Brown
Iris
For me without a doubt they were the best performances of their respective years!
If she didn't win for Shakespeare in Love she probably would have won for Iris, not Chocolat.
shareShe really should have won for Notes on a Scandal, it would have been worth the wait. even if there was a tie with Helen Mirren, i wouldnt have minded.
but she could have won for Chocolat instead of SIL.
She really should have won the Oscar the year before for Mrs. Brown. Completely robbed, if you ask me. She still shines during her few minutes in SIL though.
shareDame Judi should have won for Mrs Brown in 1998 and Iris in 2002, I have no doubt about that. I can just about understand her losing out to Helen Hunt, but Halle Berry, come on! Although I'm pleased she's won at least one Oscar, I have a feeling the Academy gave her it for Shakespeare in Love in 1999 as compensation for not recognising her the previous year.

She probably would had got it for Notes on a Scandal.
Its that man again!!
