Why is a choice to award it to Ian McKellen? I agree that is odd it was awarded so much before Maggie. I believe he was awarded it for helping with LGBT issues.

Why do you say that? I think Dame Ian McKellen fits perfectly :) He did do a great job of imitating Maggie on SNL, lol, was great! Love him!
