Shane

Can't believe there are no posts for Brandon. He was great in the movie Shane. Died way too young, age 30, in an accident while driving a camper.

He was so cute in Shane.
Another movie I like him in is Hud.
I agree. He died way too young. Like many actors who have died at young ages, you have to wonder how their careers would gone and what other roles they might have played.

Maybe the fact that he died at the age of thirty 46 years ago has a lot to do with it. Except for Shane there wasn't much more that he was known for. You can't expect anyone under 40 to really know who he was. Heck I didn't even know and I have seen Shane a half dozen times. Lol

He also had his very own TV show called "Jamie", and is one of the youngest people to ever be nominated for an Oscar (for SHANE). But, one of the things that made him unique is that he always returned to the stage. He began his career at the very young age of 7 in the Broadway drama "The Member of the Wedding" (later recreating the role for the movie), he won a Donaldson Award for that, the youngest person to receive one. He had his second Broadway hit "Mrs. McThing" (starring legendary Helen Hayes) by the time he was ten. And that was after starring in SHANE and the film version of "Member". He was on Broadway again at the age of 11 in "The Emperor's Clothes" (with Lee J. Cobb, and Maureen Stapleton), and again at 16 in "Comes a Day" with George C. Scott, and another acting legend, Dame Judith Anderson. His last Broadway stint was in 1965 in "A Race of Hairy Men", which only lasted 16 performances.
When he died, Brandon had just finished starring in a stage production of "Butterflies are Free" in Denver, CO. There is a biography written about him which you can get here:

He matured into an excellent teenage and young adult actor - as well as Joey in 'Shane', his performance in 'Hud' is well-known and well-regarded.

Perhaps less known to audiences today but also very memorable are his performances in 'The Member of the Wedding' and 'All Fall Down'. He was a good actor with the potential to be a very good one... a potential which was, of course, sadly cut short.
