Why did he leave the show?

Does anybody know why Jeremy Davies left Lost? Faraday was one of my favorite characters. Is he going to be in a movie or another show now, or did the producers need him to leave for plot reasons? Why did he leave?

I heard somewhere that the writers wanted a character to die to prove to the viewers that the main characters could die in the 70s Dharma world as it was their present lives. And apparently it was to advance the plot. But he was an amazing character, he shouldn't have been killed off :(

The writers kill of characters all the time, it's not really up to the actors.

Well, more often than not, when actors leave, it's because they are going on to a new project, or they did something that the producers didn't like (such as getting DUI's).
