hes one of the most under appreciated actors of all time. I cant even say "underrated", because anytime you see him he's fantastic. even in Last action hero. shame he got so much exposure only after GOT so late in life

He has an Operatic voice. In addition to the works you name, Dance rescued The Golden Child from triviality, rescuing Charlotte Lewis from the hee-haw donkey ululations of a very self-impressed Eddie Murphy.
His scenes as Tywin Lannister with Arya blew me away. Clearly an erudite and enormously powerful patriarch, he saw that she was playing a role and, instead of punishing her, he coached her. “High born girls say ‘My lady.’ Low born girls say ‘MilLady.’ If you want to pass, say it correctly.”
Ed Harris, Denzel Washington, Gene Hackman, Brian Cranston, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Gary Oldman, Judy Dench, Robert Duvall, Guy Pierce, Charles Dance, of course. The list goes on and on. With very few exception (like Nolan), modern Hollywood seems to be unable to use those golden actors.
