I would agree with that in large part, Somewhere being the best example (what a shockingly boring film that is).

I think her films have gotten steadily worse over time -- Virgin Suicides is quite good, Lost in Translation is good, Marie Antoinette is so-so, and Somewhere is just awful. I am not sure what to make of that exactly, but it doesn't bode well for her new film.

Not at all. Her films are not boring. They present the audience with chances to observe people behaving naturally.

You are supposed to feel restless during Somewhere to put you in the frame of mind of the character.

Films who revolve around characters are less likely to become boring after multiple viewings, compared to plot centred films.

But it's a matter of taste, of course!

I like the pace of her movies.. I think she tries to show what a day in the life can be. Virgin Suicides was probably the least slow, but still amazing
Lost In Translation was slower but even better than Suicides
Marie Antoinette I thought was amazing putting you in her point of view, with her youth
Somewhere is definitely the slowest of all her films, not saying it's bad but it drags for a lot of it, and the trailers are a bit misleading
And I'm dying for Bling Ring, it definitely looks like it's gonna be full of club scenes.
Hate me for it but I love Sofia Coppola's style, she takes very much of the style from her father. I love her.

Lost in Translation is one of the best movie I`ve ever seen and the critics said that was the second best movie that year at the Oscars (behind LOTR:Return of the King).
Don`t compare Somewhere with Lost in Translation, that movie was not that good but for that time,10 years ago when was made,LiT was pretty interesting.
