Someone told me she dated Richard Gere for a while. Can anyone confirm this?

She played a romantic interest of Richard Gere in 1986's Power directed by Sidney Lumet. She had already met Steven Spielberg. I think the Richard Gere rumors were from that movie. She was not his type back then. I don't buy it.
