Towering Height?

I just read Bill Campbell's profile page up here, and wondered about the very same thing.
The term 'towering' is overused, agreed.

But when I Googled 'tallest celebs', Bill's height was quite tall after all.

The heights listed ranged around 6'4, with the highest I saw for well-known people such as Christopher Lee was 6'5.


I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.

I can imagine being too tall, just as being too short, isn't great if you're going for the "romantic lead" type of roles. So in Hollywood terms of casting he's probably a bit taller than the average, I can imagine.

I met Billy once. I'm 5'7" tall and he seemed towering to me!

I assumed he was my height (6') when I first saw him, it's hard to tell height on TV, especially when they use gimmicks- for instance Lucy Lawless always seemed huge as "Xena", until I read that the actress who played her sidekick was much taller and they used to put blocks under Lucy's feet to make her appear "towering". Fooled me the entire time that show was on. Billy is tall, but he doesn't have a "tall" frame. Michael Dorn (Worf) appeared taller in Billy's Next Generation appearance, but he's actually an inch shorter than Billy- but he does (or did) have that klingonish beefy frame that most tall guys have.

I'm only 6'0", people I meet (women included) who are 6'3" seem huge to me...

I'm watching The Killing right now and he seems a whole head taller, at least, than everyone around him. He does seem like he's "towering." I'm the shortest in my family at 5'8." I have brothers that are 6'3" and 6'4" but to me that doesn't seem that tall.

Clint Walker is 6'6".

The cast of Night Court was interesting in that the male cast members are all pretty tall:

Harry Anderson - 6'4"
John Laroquette - 6'4-1/2"
Charles Robinson - 6'3"

and...
Richard Moll - 6'8"...now that's towering.
