Eight is Enough Reunion Movies
Is there a reason why Betty Buckley never reprised her role as Abby in any of the Eight is Enough reunion movies?

shareI believe she was busy appearing on Broadway in NY when the reunion movies were filmed. She was interviewed for various biographies about Dick Van Patten and the E! True Hollywood Story about Eight is Enough.
shareOut of all the cast members of Eight is Enough, Betty Buckley is the only one to have had a significant career after the series was canceled.
shareWhen the first reunion came out in 1987, the story released to the press was that Betty was too busy filming "Frantic". In fact, contract negotiations had broken down. The producers felt that Betty and her agent were asking for too much money/too many perks, so they finally walked away from the table after extended negotiations. And when it came time for the 1989 reunion, they never even called her.
shareWithout Betty, the reunion movies were lacking. She would have been well worth whatever her asking price. Betty is the only cast member to have had a post Eight is Enough career of any note. She is one of the greats.
shareI've heard from her own mouth, she has no interest in Eight Is Enough, or any of the people who were on the show with her. She won't even discuss the show (which is generally an indication that whatever happened was the person's fault who "doesn't want to discuss it"). That was long before the second reunion movie, so something major must've happened during those first negotiations, apparently she was thinking she was a little more special than she was.
shareYeah, God knows Dick van Patten never went anywhere, right?
shareYeah, he's headed many a Broadway show and has been heralded as one of the all time great musical theater stars.
shareShe's a bitch, that's why
