i feel bad for berkley

i saw showgirls last night on dvd and didn't love it but didn't think it was nearly as bad as it was made out to be. i thought gina was the stand out but really liked berkley too. i guess it was really poorly reviewed just because of it of how raunchy it was. but it had to be! if your gonna tell a story like this you want to make it as real as it can. there nothing worse than a watered down movie about vegas. but i feel bad for berkly because she bears it all and give and plays naomi the she was meant to be played. its sad because the movie was slandered and this is all she'll be remebered for. i feel her talent has been wasted and will only be seen buy the perverts of the world who see NC-17 on the sale rack. its just sad. i'm glad she is now reaching out to troubled girls of the world through here sight. i want to see more of berkley in the future, to erase her image as the that babe from showgirls.

I love her. :]

I think the film was awful but its so bad that it's good and there's no way in Hell anyone could have made Nomi into a likable and understandable character. She's just so badly written that it's unbelievable. Perhaps Meryl Streep could but I'm not sure she'd be comfortable with all the stripping and general sleaziness and even she wouldn't get an Oscar nomination for Showgirls.

Back to Elizabeth though, I think she's great. Really down to earth, nice to her fans and just really humble and charming. :]

I guess that makes YOU a "perv," too, since YOU watched Showgirls, yourself.

What killed her "career" is that she could never act worth a damn. Plus, you don't try to build a legitimate acting career by taking a role in a film where you are totally naked throughout it. You don't get respect as an actress doing that.

She doesn't need to act, anyway. That's why she married a rich guy.

you are all so blind, she and the film deserved everyone of those razzies and if you can't see that then you are probably have no awareness of good or bad acting and i feel sorry for you

You're an idiot.

The VERY BEST thing about the arts (and I think film can be placed in this category) is that different people will feel differently about it.

It's not about whether this film was bad on any technical level.. sure it was. But it will still speak to some people who's life experiences allow them to be significantly impacted by the piece.

This always has and always will be the effect of stories and arts and performances.

Elizabeth was the worst actress that year. Terribly horrible.

She's improved since then.
