How could she even think of doing an overproduced, superficial film like "The Women" after her genius portrayal of the overwhelmed suburban housewife?
It just makes me sad when the good ones lose their momentum.

share^How about a little variety? She's always being accused of playing the
same type of neurotic women in "heavy" films. Now she herself has said
she was glad she was able to switch and do something lighter. Not every
thing one does can or even has to be top notch. That's damn near impossible.
All the great actors have done "lesser" movies and most of them were
indeed doing it for the sake of variation.
I understand variety, but that doesn't mean the new pursuit has to be borderline idiotic.
shareWell she followed up American Beauty, the next year with another terrible film: What Planet Are You From? or something like that. I watch Bening and cringe in that film.
