yes, i'm confused...I've always think Annette will win this time for "The Kids..."...but somehow, the other side of me is telling me she will not, because of Portman.
I have watched The Black Swan, but it seems that something is missing...i wish i knew what it is...when it was finished i thought "that's it? that's it?".
well, many people loved the movie. and reading their opinions somehow influenced mine...

Many says it's Portman gonna win, but i still wish Annette will win, she has strong performance...

But if she wins, many would think of it as Sympathy and not because she really deserves...i don't wish that to happen...
anyway...

I think Annette SHOULD win. If she wins, it could be a combination of Sympathy and a feeling that she was not rewarded for a previous briliant performance ("American Beauty" comes to mind).

Or it could just be "her year". It is hard to count her out because she could still win. If Natalie Portman does not win, she will have other chances. This is only her second nomination and her first as Best Actress; whereas Annette has been nominated on three previous occasions, this being her third nomination for Best Actress.

Sometimes if an actress is a veteran it can count against her (is Meryl Streep ever going to win a third Oscar? Her track record of nominations for which she has not won vs those where she one suggests not, but it could happen); sometimes the Academy thinks that a Nomination is "reward enough", especially for young actors. It took Shirley MacLaine 5 nominations to win an Oscar and it took Geraldine Page AND Al Pacino 8 nominations.

I hope Annette wins. I'm rooting for her!! Go Annette!!!!
