Really easy to root against her...

If she does win (though I suspect she won't), she would deserve it. She was really great in The Kids Are All Right. Couldn't care less about egos - it's Hollywood - they all have egos the size of Buicks. It's about performance and she brought it.

I don´t see how an actress that does very few movies and mostly comedies would NEED an oscar or be desperate for it. Now using your pregnancy and ballet training to overpromote ypurself, THAT is being desperate for an award.

i have not seen both films and i admire annette bening much than portman but i agree with some that portman deserve to win the oscar this year. this young actress portman is really at her best in every film she does and she is likely deserve to win the oscar to bening and it would be pity if bening would win just because its time for her to win. the problem with bening with her 3 nom (if she gets this year) there is always one young actress better than her....mirren at past age 60 won an oscar and i think bening might also win someday....

Not sure what makes you say she has such a huge ego, I get the impression that she seems lovely. And she doesn't NEED to win the Oscar, she is a fantastic actress and could manage perfectly without one, as she has done so far. I think she does really deserve it though, she is fantastic.

Natale portman is better in black swan than annette in the kids are all right. Natalie deserves to win the oscar
