Excellent villain in Skyfall

I though his performance as Silva in Skyfall was probably the best villain I've seen in any Bond film.
He's set a high target for whoever plays the next villain.
Also disappointed that he didn't get an Oscar nod, he gave a better performance than a few others who got nominated.

I agree. He was better than Arkin and Di Niro. And Waltz and Hoffman are co-leads, not supporting.

I'm a huge fan of De Niro, and I can say that he shouldn't have been nominated. I'm surprised Skyfall didn't get a best picture nomination while I'm at it.

reply

I was absolutely gutted that he didn't even get an Oscar nomination, as I thought he should have won supporting actor - hands down. One of the greatest performances from a villain that i've ever seen. He is hugely respected as an actor though, so that's the main thing :-)

Have you seen no country for old men?
Equally chilling as a villain, but such a contrasting character...

reply

He got a SAG nomination so actors respect him.

Agree, one of the best villains in recent years. A shame that the movie wasn't very good.

I think his roles in No Country For Old Men and Skyfall are 2 of the most memorable villains of the last couple of decades in movies (Heath Ledger's Joker another one that sticks out).

reply

Yes, Heath played a great villain, one of the best to ever grace our cinema history.
Anthony Hopkins is another one, playing Hannibal Lecter.
I also liked Robert De Niro's Max Cady in Cape Fear.

Javier Bardam has the golden belt for being, hands down, one of the most wonderful Bond villains ever. What an immense distinction.

Most mesmerizing character in the movie too.
