On a serious note though, I seem to recall that there was quite a scandal surrounding this dude. Something to the effect of a drug and alcohol fueled party/orgy, with naked young girls swimming in pools of champagne. I also seem to recall that his career took quite a hit over it, and never really recovered as a result. Oh well, he went out with a hell of a bang! :D
Arbuckle was at a hotel party (less extravagant than the one you describe) where a woman died from a botched abortion. He was accused of rape and manslaughter. After three trials a jury found him not guilty, but also felt strongly enough to write a letter saying the evidence was flimsy and chastised the prosecution for bringing the case to trial.
His acting career was over, but he became a successful director.
