Still works largely under the radar

Frankly, I'm relieved that MADCHEN AMICK continues to find regular acting work to this day. Back in the early 90s, Madchen Amick was a Hollywood, 'it' girl, like Gretchen Mol, one of those, amazingly beautiful, up-and-coming actresses of which bigger and better was expected.

But it didn't happen. I don't know why. I didn't hear anything negative about Madchen Amick. Like Gretchen Mol, both young women were willing to do avante garde, risque, and even partial nudity. I think the big roles simply didn't come their way. For a while, Madchen went the way of direct-to-video movies.

Madchen Amick is 42 years old today, soon to turn 43, and luckily she took care of herself and remains attractive, she is obviously not the glowingly beautiful young lass of the early 90s with her signature, dark hair, pale skin, and piercing, feline blue-green eyes. She was the pre-Kristen Stewart. She possessed a unique beauty that I found alluring. I also expected or at least hoped she would go on to bigger and better, like her contemporaries, Gretchen Mol and Natasha Henstridge.

Well, Madchen is now among a list of solid, B list Hollywood actors who are fortunate enough to find steady acting work that pays the bills and maintains an upper middle class lifestyle. She has slipped under the radar so the young people in their twenties today will not know who she is. But I am glad she is gainfully employed. No one can stay young forever. We all have to grow old. It's how we handle growing old is what matters most.
