Her most wasted role yet was in TRIPLE 9

They dolled her up in a venomous Russian mafia mobster but barely touched the surface with her. Had a few measly scenes sprinkled throughout the film giving such limited impact. It's not her fault, she was great in the joke of material given to her but unfortunately it's a guys movie focusing on the male cast. She was probably more effectively used in Divergent and that is saying something.

Have you seen it? I heard she is underused in this movie but even other stars in Triple 9 are wasted as Norman Reedus or Aaron Paul. This movie was a missed opportunity for Hillcoat, it looks a movie ruined by a bad script and editing. A typical Hollywood mess!

Norman Reedus is probably the only one wasted worse than Winslet (excluding the other female cast), Aaron Paul is quite good at an internalised anguish role but it is incredibly reminiscent of the final season of Breaking Bad.

The film isn't really a mess it just reeks of mediocrity, the script is messy and there is legitimately no character development, the ensemble is just a little too big for it to run smoothly. Winslet just owns what she is given, she just oozes sex appeal and as I said a venomous and intimidating vibe but she is just given nothing to work with. I would estimate she has about 8 minutes screentime. I guess it looks good to be part of a Hillcoat ensemble as a villain (with no material to work with) but Winslet herself and her fans should give this a miss.

I'm so tired of her getting these roles. Seriously, was this and Insurgent the best scripts she read that year? Come on, Kate, you can do better than this. I mean, Xavier Dolan wants to work with you. Quentin f-cking Tarantino wants to work with you. Come... on.

Triple 9 was really disappointing and Divergent series a waste of time for Kate, she made it for a bunch of money though!. I don't know much about Collateral Beauty, is it worth?, she needs to be focused on her career to get better roles now.

I tend to think she made The Divergent series to please her kids, to be the "cool mum" ( but on that matter , she should have been accepted the part they proposed her in the Harry Potter series).

Concerning Tarantino he reapeats he wants to work with her, but IMO he hasn't really proposed her a role in a movie yet. In an ITW at the golden globes he repeated again that she was THE actress he 'd like to work with, but said it wouldn't be in his next movie since he didn't envision a role for her in it.

As for Dolan i really really hope she works with him in the future. He's crazy about her,and he's just one of the most talented young director. I kept reading for years and years at the time of his first movies how she was his biggest idol, how he knew where she Lived in NY,and often hoped to meet her when he passed nearby.

So i was quite excited when he became the director all young actresses wanted to work with. From an itw of him last year , he probably met her for his next movie ( he said he was going to meet his favorite actress, appeared very shattered but said he couldn't tell more about it). I wonder how it went if that really happened.
The casting of his next movie is incredible .i just hope he hasn't lost himself in it. It seems quite ambitious.

I saw the Tarantino red carpet interview you mentioned, and I agree. He keeps saying he wants to work with her but hasn't really offered her a part. But regarding Dolan, I think we can be certain he did offer her one. And surely many other great directors she's worked with before have offered her parts as well. Haynes, Ang Lee, Daldry, Gondry, these are excellent directors whose work got a lot of recognition partly because of her work: all awarded performances. They must've wanted to work with her again. But for some reason she tends to choose untested or average directors. I really really hope Frenkel does a good job with Collateral Beauty.
