And he didn't write a single one. Give more credit to the writers. Verhoeven is good, but the writers are the most important, especially in a good film.

I disagree. Joe Ezsterhas scripts were among the dumbest, sleaziest, most misogynistic screenplays this side of Zalman King. Verhoeven made them work through his sensationalist direction and subversive spirit.

Who is responsible for improvising the script? I noticed some of the best lines in Starship Troopers were made more awesome than the script.
