Did he ever patch up his differences with Rutger Hauer?

Rutger Hauer and Paul Verhoeven were good friends in the 70s and early 80s, Hauer appearing in all Verhoeven's Dutch films, save The Fourth Man. In making Flesh + Blood, though, they had a major falling out over the nature of Hauer's role, which Hauer wanted to be a traditional 'hero' figure to help in his Hollywood career, while Verhoeven was adamant that he be more of a morally murky character. It ruined their friendship at the time, and they haven't worked together since. Does anybody know if they've since made up and become friends again? It would be a shame if their entire friendship had permanently disintegrated because of this.

They have worked out their differences personally. They have stated that a couple of times in the Dutch press. But it seems that it is not enough to get them together professionally anymore.

Good they're friends again. Maybe they've made a conscious decision not to work together again in case they fall out once more.
