When is the next Verhoeven- Ezsterhas flick?

Hopefully never. It produced Basic Instinct (half OK) and Showgirls (truly terrible).

They're currently producing a new Ezsterhas screenplay actually. Verhoeven isn't attached, however.

Seriously, can Megan Ellison/Annapurna Productions throw some $$$ Verhoeven's way already - the guy is a master many times over. You can't tell me PT Anderson, Wong Kar-wai, The Coens, etc. would be against sharing the wealth?

Any material Verhoeven takes on and is given adequate resources to finesse, he vivifies. His hands have been tied by studio bean-counters for too long!

What would be the point? Ezsterhas isn't relevant anymore. Those films aren't great because Ezsterhas's scripts were good. They were great because those scripts, good or bad, captured the zeitgeist of Hollywood/America at the time, and as such, we're the perfect starting point for Verhoeven's brand of satire.
