$20 million for FRED CLAUS????

I thought he was overpaid with THE DILEMMA and $17.5 million... but I can't believe what I just read. Vaughn was paid $20 million to star in FRED CLAUS???? What the hell are they thinking????

I guess his agent used that article that said Vince Vaughn was the best money back guarantee star with the best box office returns... Which I don't see how that's attributed to him.

He got lucky. But this is how the Hollywood system is set up, so, what do I know.

Go ahead executives. Keep overpaying for Vince Vaughn. He needs to go buy a vacation mansion somewhere. Help him out.

I thought he was great in Fred Claus. I thought the movie was really well done. The Dilemma was pretty bad, but I've seen enough Vaughn to know that I will enjoy his performances most of the time. And when Favreau makes it in also, then it's worth it, regardless.

ok lovekcclove, you had a bad personal experience with him. Is there an actor around who hasn't disappointed a fan, or pissed off a non fan? But if you judge him by his body of work as an actor, he is impressive. That's an opinion obviously, but I don't think I'm alone in my assessment of his movie career.

I see what you are saying with most of those movies. They didn't work completely. But there are many inspired moments in most of them. But I might disagree with you on Fred Claus. I think it worked as a Christmas movie, and I think it worked as a vehicle for Vaughn.

And I thought The Breakup was very well done. And I think he was great in Clay Pigeons, and had a great part in Anchorman, and Old School. And I liked him in Starsky and Hutch. I also liked him in Made.

Psycho was a failed experiment, but that was Gus Van Zant as much as Vaughn. He was miscast. It didn't really work, But it was daring and interesting.

I think he had a great little part in Into The Wild also.

There might be others. I can't think of more right now. But even in general losers like Four Christmases and Couples Retreat, there are moments. Wedding Crashers I thought was horrible. Pacing was way off for me.

Now The Dilemma was pretty bad, but it was a bad script and the entire thing was brought down a bit by Kevin James. He couldn't really keep up with Vaughn in that film.

None of this will override your personal experience with him, I realize. He has stained his reputation in yout mind forever. But I think he has a lot of memorable stuff out there. And I'm a Chicagoan, so I root for him. I have my bias too.

But I love the interchange of ideas. That's what these boards are all about.

He is grossly overpaid and grossly under-talented.
