She's Like the Wind
I always thought that this was a rather nice song to be honest. I guess I'm dating myself here a bit, but this song was on the charts way back when I was a senior in high school nearly a quarter of a century ago. Patrick did a very nice job with his vocal performance here, certainly he seemed a much more real/talented singer than the horde of actors in the mid-80s who tried their hand at pop music such as Eddie Murphy, Don Johnson, Bruce Willis, et al. I'm not saying they did horrible at their respective songs, but they were hardly in the same league as a vocalist as Patrick.
I guess my question here is did Patrick make any other songs or albums? I ran into something last night somewhere on the web that basically said that he never recorded another song after this one. I find that rather sad if true as he was quite good as a singer IHMO.
I think the most moved that I ever was by this song was just a few nights before Patrick passed on I was driving down a dark country road and a DJ played this in honor of him as the end seemed near according to what was being reported. I was struck by how very beautiful his voice really was and the soulful way that he sang this song. I guess he put all of himself into whatever he did in the 80s and early 90s, no wonder there wasn't much left for him to give later on. But I just find it hard to believe that he never did anything else in regards to his singing if what I read was true.
Does anyone know if there is any other Patrick Swayze songs out there or was this it? Too bad if it is!
