shareWell there was a couple things. First, you had people blasting him for being seen with a cigarette. But 90% of those people probably had a drink, smoke, etc right after blasting him. It's just the dumb leading the dumb in a game of, "look at what that person is doing, but dont look at me because I'm still healthy". How many people blasting him put down their cigarettes or alcohol? I can probably tell you the answer. Do as I say, NOT as I do. Pretty pathetic.
Then you had people asking about why he didn't have children. Meanwhile those losers are so caught up in a celebrity world because they have no balls to live their own life. Is it their buisness? No. Again, pathetic. Put down your STAR,Enquirer Magazine and get a life.
Then you just had the publicity of a dying celebrity, which is going to happen either way. It's the way the world is because we do watch their movies. Which is totally cool. They are on screen and people are going to want to know when someone who they love on screen is dying. Just like Dennis Hopper today(sadly). It's a shame but it happens. It is a shame Patrick died so young.

That's why we're all hypocrites at heart, aren't we? I'm by no means a religious person, but y'all know what they say about people in glass houses, right? (Besides that they should shower in the basement. )
Go take a step outside - see what's shaking in the real world.
Thought that they did! They didn't put Farrah Fawcett as that was made of a big deal.
shareIf you're referring to the Oscars- they did. He was the very first one as the camera cut to the big screen on the stage. They also had Demi Moore introduce the montage after entering to "Unchained Melody". Mini tribute there.
sharei didn't notice him getting bashed on. are you just talking about those national enquirer type mags? because it's pretty typical with them. i think I saw all the good parts of his Barbara Walters interview over and over and over, it made him look like a tough admirable non-bitter type person. he seemed to joke around a bit about how hard-headed he was also, and about smoking.
shareI think it was because he was getting chemo & still smoking...it's such a stupid thing to do. Cigarettes & alcohol are 2 things directly known for lowering the immune system. Chemotherapy further compromises it, so at a time when one should be trying to keep one's self as healthy as possible, to not only fight the cancer but to keep from getting a virus/infection, the last thing one needs is to continue to smoke. Maybe he figured he wasn't gonna make it & thought, to hell with it...who knows. But I think that's where a lot of the backlash came from.
