I went to the awesome Hollywood Costume exhibit several years ago, where movie costumes were displayed on mannequins made to the measurements of the actor who had actually worn the costume. I was surprised to see how small Babs was, she had such a dominant screen presence that I'd thought she was taller than average.
Streisand knew that her face was "interesting" -- the nose she would never have fixed because it might affect her singing, the cross-eyes -- but she also knew she had a pretty bangin' body. She wore clothing in movies like "The Owl and the Pussycat" to show off both the T and the A, to good effect. The face was eventually modified with superstar cinematography and hairstyles, but the body was the selling point.
Her co-star in The Prince of Tides...Nick Nolte...complained to Streisand that he had to keep working naked in their love scenes but she covered up. How fair was that?
Streisand's reply, said Nolte: "They don't pay me enough for me to show these tits."
UPDATE:
In Streisand's new autobio(2023), she writes that director Herbert Ross convinced her to TRY a topless scene in The Owl and the Pussycat(1970) under a "deal": if Streisand didn't like the footage she could veto its use in the movie. So she did the scene topless (with only co-star George Segal, director Ross, and Streisand's trusted cinematographer Harry Stradling on set) and later looked at the footage and said "No," again using the line "they don't pay me enough to show my tits."
But that topless footage is out there...somewhere?
Also, Streisand relates that she requested a bathtub be replaced on "What's Up Doc?" because the orginal was too small and would have exposed her breasts in a bathing scene.
