i like her even more now..

the courage it took for mrs. streep to use her global celebrity platform to do the right thing as an american citizen and warn her fellow citizens of the fascist regime that's about to take office and its frightening white nationalist motivations was worthy of applause..

we all should be horrified by the fact that an infantile, bigoted douchebag who would openly mock a disabled person and behave like a completely bigoted, knee-jerk jackass on twitter like a low-i.q. teenager with zero self-restraint is about to become leader of the free world.. 

thank you, mrs streep for bravely taking up the mantle and becoming the voice of the majority of this nation who clearly did not vote for the orange jackass..

the majority of americans agree with you and salute you, mrs. streep.. you're a great american! 

besides.. if clint eastwood could use his platform to talk to an empty chair on stage back in 2012 and suggest that obama was nothing more than an empty suit, then mrs. streep can return the favor if she sees fit..after all, freedom of speech isn't just the privilege of white males!

Jeez, I hope there's not a land war anytime soon if you think Streep's speech was 'courageous'

reply

being a 'war hawk' is not a sign of courage.. 'courage' is being brave enough to sound off the alarm whenever you see your country hijacked by a fascist clan down a path that only reflects the views of a white nationalist minority when you have absolutely nothing to gain.. and let's be clear, the majority of americans did not vote for the infantile orange jackass..

mrs. streep has nothing whatsoever to gain by offering up her opinions.. she has financial security, iconic status and the adulation and respect of her peers so she can afford to remain safely and silently oblivious to the dark fascist cloud rolling across her country's government as we speak.. in fact, she has absolutely nothing to gain by opining publicly on the dark turn this country is about to take, but she still thought it frightening and important enough to risk it all and do the right thing by taking a stand in railing against it in the name of the majority of her fellow americans who also are seeing their country hijacked by a hideous white nationalist minority..

i wish people from all walks of life had been as courageous as she in standing up to the fascist rise of hitler back in 1930s germany..

She gave the only politically acceptable speech to a roomful of people who think exactly as she does. Not brave. It was guaranteed to get applause, and it did.

reply

I don't think what she said was out of line. She deserves to speak her opinion just like any other American. Play The Future.

if this event had just been a hollywood underground secret meeting held in barbra streisand's basement for only those who knew the secret password and handshake, you might have a point..

however, this was a globally televised event broadcast to millions across the united states and the world..

there's a slight difference there..

I'm amazed anticaria--I know how you have felt about Streep in the past.

I'm filled with admiration for how you have come to Streep's defense.

Your understanding of courage makes me understand your comments.
