Incredibly BAD American Accent in 'Annihilation Earth'!!!

Awful!!!! Where the hell is she supposed to be form? It sounds like she is attempting a southern accent, but it sounds incredibly fake.

What a lousy actress. And I'm being nice by calling her an actress.

Scifi channel movies aren't usually the place to look for stellar acting.

I assume this would be the first time you've seen her in something, need I suggest you see her work in star trek and her voice acting in Gargoyles please...

I've seen her in a number of other productions and she's an excellent actress.

However, I have to agree that her attempt at a southeastern US accent was decidedly less than successful.

I also have to agree with Darwinskid that those Sci-Fi Channel [Extremely] Original Movies don't set the bar very high. Most of those offerings that I've been roped into seeing have been almost laughable. I will say that they do seem to be trying harder. I did find Annihilation Earth to be a good bit better than a number of their previous offerings:
• Treasure of the Grand Canyon
• Cyclops
• Minotaur
This one could clear the bar set by those three with two broken vertebræ and a walker.
• The CGI monsters in those three were cartoonish, to be charitable.
• Treasure... had the pale natives wearing flip-flops! They also had the Aztecs thoroughly confused with the Mayans and the Inca.
• The Cyclops is supposed to be a Greek story, but they set it in Rome — and the writers knew less about the Rome of Tiberius Claudius Nero Cæsar than I know about the fine art of oriental carpet weaving.

Treasure... and Cyclops and Minotaur included some excellent actors — but no amount of talent could save those thoroughly flawed scripts.

All I can say to the writers, directors and producers of those other three movies is:
I admire your ability to get paid for that.

She's one of my favourite actresses and although I haven't seen this yet, many of her other roles are good. She is truely excellent in Inalienable and Threat Matrix and has given many great performances. It seems pointless to give her a southern accent if that's the case in the new movie.

It seems pointless to give her a southern accent I thought so, too. There are a number other American accents that would have been so much easier for her to master. Even the Deanna Troi speech she used on Next Gen would have been better.

Indeed, especially seeing as her character wasn't someone who had a backstory, we didn't know where she was from. Ah well, it's not the first time it's happened, Sean Bean with a bad american accent in Silent Hill comes to mind, there was no reason plot wise why he had to be american.

Oddly, I think her Troi accent is better than her actual voice.
