"Reconstructive surgery"

His story is that his face got *beep* up because after the boxing he went to the wrong guy for his reconstructive surgery. But but... his last fight was in 1994. And after that he was most famously seen in Double Team (1997). Still looks like himself, just a bit older:https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/w300/beQ5z53Ym3AzgVd1tq7EhWzYTue.jpg

And then in 2001 in The Pledge, still looks like himself, well aged:

So I call *beep* on that story. He went under the knife out of vanity or whatever the *beep* ever, but no way did his boxing injuries made him do it.

Yes,as a great Rourke fan,I have to agree that the story of reconstructive surgery due to boxing injuries is bulls*it. He started with bad operations in 1997 I think, because in "Another 9 and half weeks" his face is bloated. luckily, after that he again looked normal, naturally aged and was still hot. In "Domino" in 2005 his face was so cute, I just wish he stopped there...

I'm quite certain Mickey has a form of body dismorphic disorder....similar to what Michael Jackson had. It seems he is never happy with what he sees in the mirror, as if he sees something different than what the rest of us see. He used to be extremely handsome, but he just didn't see that for himself, like the rest of us did. He tried cosmetic changes....first with things like check implants (see Wild Orchid)....and then, enormous, jutting cheek implants (see Another 9 1/2 Weeks)......then he flat out did full-on plastic surgery on his face numerous times....his nose, his lips......just completely changed his entire face. Kinda tragic.

His ex-wife Debra Feuer pretty much confirmed in an interview that he suffers from a form of body dysmorphia.

The boxing and boozing probably made most of his teeth fall out. But to have pieces of rib bone and hip bone grafted into his mouth so he can get tooth implants is just such an awful thought. He should just get dentures and leave the rest alone. Obviously he's addicted to plastic surgery and has lost all sight of what he's doing to himself. I think most ppl with body dismorphic disorder should have some kind of plastic surgery prohibition marked on their drivers license or something and any surgeon who does procedures on them should have their license taken away. It's entirely unethical and basically just butchery.

Did anyone read about that woman who had a plastic surgeon remove 6 of her ribs so she'd have a micro-waist? So *beep* up.

He's his own worst enemy with it and it's a shame. He would have been so beautiful as a beat up former pretty boy. His status as a character actor would have been cemented and he most certainly would have an Oscar by now.

Does he wear wigs in all his movies now?

reply

No doubt, as op here say he has some sort of psychological disorder. He didn't see what we all saw, and I'm so sorry the surgeons just took his money instead of referring him to the psychiatrist! Bloody sad!

Just because he didn't have reconstructive surgery the same year as he stopped boxing doesn't mean that isn't the reason he had it done. His nose could have been *beep* up on the inside, scar tissue around the eyes and broken bones healed with calcium deposits. There's many issues that could bother him but they get worse as years go by, then he finally had it done. I agree that he did have some done for vanity reasons, obviously, and used the boxing as a good excuse, but mickey didn't exactly move like Floyd Mayweather in the ring and his face was a punching bag in a lot of his fights in the early 90s. And being an actor he needed to have a pretty face...but oh did that backfire. poor guy. Must be a nightmare to look in the mirror and see the cowardly lion looking back.
