She was knighted but refused the title. A Communist as she is.
As the saying goes... the time to make up your mind about people is never
being made a dame isn't a knighthood don't confuse the two

sharePolitics aside, Vanessa Redgrave exceeds any meaningless labeling, title or rank. Her immense dedication to her craft and prolific, momentous career as an actress speaks for itself. Personally, I am glad she refused the British honour of Dame; she doesn't need it.
