Not a Dame?


For some reason I thought she had been knighted already.

Is it because of her politics?

She was knighted but refused the title. A Communist as she is.

Is there a female equivalent of "knighted"? I thought that verb did for both genders.

Politics aside, Vanessa Redgrave exceeds any meaningless labeling, title or rank. Her immense dedication to her craft and prolific, momentous career as an actress speaks for itself. Personally, I am glad she refused the British honour of Dame; she doesn't need it.
