I guess we can finally take this as 100% proof that

Well, it would be easier for the inheritor to sign off on the project regardless of quality.

A great person that helped create great films dies and all you think of YOUR loss of a possible trilogy? God bless you.

And what is wrong with that? None of us knew him personally. We connected to him through his passion of film making and that is exactly what his fans will be missing.

Hopefully Bill feels a bit guilty about refusing to do GB3 when Harold and Dan wanted it to happen.

The worst part about GBIII likely never happening, is that it could have happened years ago! Sadly, I still suspect that the studio is half to blame, maybe even more, because studios mostly care about money and remaking everything. While Bill seems to be stubborn, doing plenty of mediocre movies but not GBIII, I wouldn't be surprised if he just didn't want to deal with a sellout of a movie, no thanks to the studio. They probably wanted the new cast to have the most scenes, as well as too much non needed CGI, etc etc like most sequels/remakes today.

Either way, I'd still be up for a final film, if the remaining cast returned (Bill of course), and if they could figure out a way to incorporate Egon somehow. If the movie doesn't happen, so be it.

Harold Ramis will be remembered forever!

SONY wants GB3 to happen because they know it'll make money. If they didn't care they wouldn't have fixed the Ecto-1 or restored the first movie in 4K.
