You people don't get it
The reason she's disliked is not because she's RICH. There are THOUSANDS of other celebrities in her tax bracket and beyond who don't receive a tenth of the criticism she does, and it's because she's positioned herself in the public light time and time again as a smug, self-aggrandizing, insufferable wench. Her character makes it clear that she's received nothing but praise and a sense of exceptionalism and entitlement her entire life.
There are celebrities out there far wealthier than Gwyneth who maintain healthy public images because they either a) are more humble and/or aware of their status in relation to the majority of the public; or b) they have a good PR team making sure they don't alienate their viewers like Ms. Paltrow. I have an uncle in my family who has the same net worth as Paltrow, and he's one of the most likable, generous and least pretentious people I've ever known. Being rich doesn't necessitate an attitude; I think Gwyneth's was mostly cultivated during her privileged childhood, and now she's just an adult version of her bratty self. Her level of grace is about that of a donkey's.
I'll give it to her that she stays true to her character, but that's not always necessarily a good thing.
