Best roles?

I have watched him in Cape Fear, The Prince of Tides and Lorenzo's Oil, and especially enjoyed his performance and general onscreen presence in the last two. Which movies do you guys recommend to watch next? I was hoping he had more of these sort of 90s drama roles.

If you haven't seen "48 Hours," then definitely do. Also, check out his breakthrough performance in the 1976 TV mini-series "Rich Man, Poor Man."

I'd have to say The Prince of Tides. Although he was really good in 48 Hours, which being a comedy you wouldn't readily think about. Speaking of comedy he was great in Tropic Thunder.

Try earlier ones like Heart Beat, Under Fire, Down and Out In. Beverly Hills, New York Stories, Dog Soldiers and The Golden Bowl

I’ve been a fan of Nick’s since The Deep. Beautiful Ocean views, beautiful woman, a hunky guy, 1000’s of ampule of morphine, a beautiful necklace of a dragon with emerald eyes, a moray eel and of course Robert Shaw. The adventure of finding a lost treasure.

I also like Down and Out in Beverly Hills, 48 Hours, Under Fire, Teachers, Tropic Thunder and although somewhat of a small role, Hotel Rwanda and two of his most impressive roles The Prince of Tides and Lorenzo's Oil.

He was definitely great in The Prince of Tides, but for me, he was equally great or even better perhaps in Affliction, in which he played opposite James Coburn and Willem Dafoe. In any case, I would say he is more often than not excellent in every type of role, even if the movie is average or bad.

Bill Foster: I'm the bad guy?...How did that happen?

reply

Prince of Tides - he deserved an Oscar for that role.
Affliction, of course.

reply

I thought he was great as Tom Jordasch in Rich Man Poor Man.

reply

He was so great in Rich Man Poor Man.

reply

I really liked him in Down and Out in Beverly Hills. The entire cast was great!
