I've just been browsing through a number of the threads on this board, and I have to say I'm a little puzzled. Just what is it about this woman that seems to inspire such a peculiar and apparently irrational hatred? To my mind she's just a not-particularly-good-but-not-absolutely-dreadful-either actress who specialises in lightweight romantic comedies. And happens to be extremely beautiful. To read some of the comments from folks hereabouts you'd think she'd burned down your houses, drenched the embers in the blood of your loved ones and sowed the ground with salt - at the very least. I can't help but notice much of the more vociferous Andie-baiting comes from the female side, and that makes me wonder just how much jealousy comes into play here. Come on, people - we live in a world crammed to bursting with real evildoers, so save your detestation for those who really deserve it - and leave Andie alone!

Her acting is fine. She can sing a little too. And she's beautiful. Here she is, 50 years old this year, and she is an actress who continues to work steadily.

She was excellent in (among others) Short Cuts, Groundhog Day, Green Card, Crush, The Object of Beauty. I can't see why people have a problem with her at all.

She was very good in Green Card.

People who are looking for something else in a movie think that, when a script calls for an actress to act the bitch (at least part of the time) and she responds well to that, then the actress is putting in a terrible performance.

As a rule, people are *narf*.

I too am quite surprised at some of the posts on this message board.

I guess I just assumed that everyone liked her as much as we do. I wonder if most of it doesn't stem from jealousy.
I'm jealous of her too.... I wish I was that beautiful.
Some of her movies haven't been my "cup of tea", but others have been simply AWESOME. BAD GIRLS comes to mind as my FAVORITE.

We recently worked as extras on The 5th Quarter. I was very impressed with all of the cast, Andie included ! We liked her very much.

Andie Mcdowell ruins every film she's in. She nothing but a big ruiner who ruins stuff all the time. I hate her. She makes my blood boil. I'm getting angry just thinking about her!!!

I won't say that she is an excellent actress but she does deliver an adequate performance in every movie she is in. She does a brilliant performance in Sex, Lies and Videotape. I cant think who is best suited for that role. The fact that she is also nominated for Golden glob in the category Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy/Musical many times proves that her acting is appreciated as her beauty.

Personally, she makes me want to kill myself quite painfully everytime I watch Four Weddings and a Funeral.
