Ray was Scottish descent; abandoned at an orphanage; raised by Italian Americans

I always thought he was just a fair blue eyed Italian American....until I learned this fact about him today.

He was just a baby when his parents adopted him. He had an adopted sister too. Raised Roman Catholic. Would always pray an Our Father and Hail Mary when he faced a crisis.

Not particularly religious, but he kept that up his whole life he said.

And a good thing.

Heaven holds a place for those who pray.

His mother was of Scottish descent. I imagine his mother also had some English in her. As for Ray's father, it is unknown who he even was. I would guess that he was probably English or German.

His biological father is of celtic ethnicity as well. Ethnic germanic male persons are more likely to take care of their kids. Most all european kids who's father is absent are have celtic fathers.

He didn't know who is father was, and his mother didn't want to talk about it when Ray briefly met her.

I didn't know he had Scot in him? I'm a (pure) Scot (I don't mean that in a racist way, just that my family have always been here.) and I know Italians that have been here for ages (since WW2-ish) who's grandkids (my age) were born here and they look way more Italian than Ray does. Thing is I think of them as fellow Scots. Ray on the other hand I see as an Italian (foremost) American even though if you look at him objectively he's a just a regular white dude.

I guess that without your post I've been a victim of typecasting or something with regards to Ray?

He might have been of Scottish -Italian descent. He looks a little Italian to me but who knows.
